I eat meat and I don't like being called selfish for it but I've been called worse than that. People have been eating meat since the dawn of time and I don't enjoy seeing animals killed but my religous beliefs on this subject are that animals were put on Earth for human use and consumption. However, it is also my belief that we are supposed to look out for animals as a whole so if a species was in danger of extinction we should protect the species. There are a plethora of cows in the world. Too many, actually. I learned in an Environmental Science course (This sounds foolish and dumb but it's true) that because of cows' tendency to flatulate a lot, the methane from it actually contributes to global warming somehow.
