Two theories:
Its just a huge evil plot designed by the females of the planet. They run around in packs giggling, just to see the sole brave man to come up against embarassing odds
The second is to tell a secret to someone who you know will tell it as a secret to someone and so forth. Then the person finds out and they track you down, little chit chat, and you go away rejected or preparing to be rejected after bout 3 weeks. Rather simple.
I personaly think the first is more probable
