I wouldn't have thought the 99 Mudokons Abe rescued would have been able to chant, or at least straight away. Remember there's quite a few Native Mudokons already, and that's just in the Monsaic Caves.
I don't think Abe strted escaping from RuptureFarms with the knowledge of being able to possess Sligs. Certainly he wouldn't have had the manual to tell him, so he could just have read it from an LED screen (why the Glukkons allow the placement of clue screens, bird portals and maps is beyond me - notice how all maps are for Mudokons, but there aren't any directories for Sligs or Glukkons? Tsk...).
Anyway, at least that problem's solved in Munch's Oddysee.
