We need more categories!
In the Academy awards, why don't they have a best Comedy award? Its very hard to craft fine and witty comedy, but the academy awards hardly even acknowledges them. They would much rather give awards to their favorite cause of the day and pretentious foreign films that 99 percent of the population hasn't even heard of, much less viewed.
Where is the best blockbuster catagorey? Wouldn't it be hilarious if Men in Black 2 or Stars Wars:Attack of the clones won an award? An ewok or Jar Jar could except the awards.
More thoughts: Show the stupid things before the show or in a special insider ceremoney. Thats how the music industry does it. Best rock album goes on the real deal, best bluegrass before the show.
Its pretty easy to break it down:
Best lighting,before the show, best Movie, during the show.
Don't hire crappy comedians. Whoopy Goldberg comes to mind. Steve Martin good, Billy Crystal not so good.
Have a loudspeaker do the announcing. "And the winner is...." kind of thing. Less jealous trolls handing out awards and more time for the star.
Limit on acceptance speach No longer than five minutes
