Yes they did Dakkan, for the simple reason that they had little to no support from Sony and the PS2 is so much more difficult to program for. Why don't you drop this "Sony rulez, Microsoft sux" attitude and face the facts: Because of Microsoft's Xbox, OWI can make this game so much more than what it would have been on the PS2. Don't you believe OWI when they say this?
Just because you'll have to pay for another console if you want to play this great game is no reason to constantly bring up this topic about you hating Xbox and loving PS2.
