Something definately wasn't right, Vaalm could see it. Summer had just started and the leaves on the trees were wilted and brown like it was fall already...yet it was hot like any summer day.
More puzzling still, the scent he kept smelling never faded...only getting stronger no matter what direction he was going. He had noted the birds were ominiously quiet as well and they were usually singing like crazy.
As Vaalm moved along, he came across a small creak. Experimentally he sniffed and tasted it, only to recoil in disgest.
Blech! Even water is decaying! How is that possible!? He thought.
Just then his heat sensors detected a life form, a mudokon sized one and the first one he detected since last night. It was approaching fast and Vaalm had little time to hide, but he managed by climbing into a tree.
Just as he did so a blue mudokon burst out of the dieing undergrowth.
A blue Mudokon? How interesting... Vaalm thought curiously as he leaned on a branch to get a better look. The branch he leaned on, however, was weakened by whatever was killing everything...and it snapped under his weight, sending him crashing to the ground....
