The original concept sketches of a fleech looked like balls with a mouth full of teeth. It was later that they became the two-headed worm they are now. That cave painting shows an early fleech and two "ghosts" or weirdos. Weirdos are the spirits of dead mudokons who occasionaly speak to the living. They are one with the Spooce.
P.S. If you have seen early fleech concept design mentally give it fur and big eyes. What is it now. Obviously OWI dosn't like to waste ideas. Another example of this was that the Almighty Raisin was created because Lorne liked a concept sketch (possibly of Sam) to much to throw away. He created a new character for it.
