Okay, Lots to reply to, so I'll break it down:

re: Star Trek - I used to be a Trekkie. I was never a maniac; I never had pointy ears or went to a convention or put up posters or anything like that, I just liked the programme. Then one day, I just stopped watching, and discovered I didn't miss it...

I have no objection to people looking down on Trek-obsessives as Nerds (I do see it as a fairly pathetic way to spend your life, even if it is harmless), but I wish people would be consistent. If being obsessed with Star Trek and things is Nerdish, then why aren't people who have Manchester United wallpaper, go to sleep under a Manchester United quilt, and wake up to a Manchester United alarm clock also considered Nerds?
