I've been thinking and I have come to the conclusion that the reason we don't know much about gabbit society is becuase they are a simple species. There is not much else to know. My guess is that within the pod, Gabbits each have different roles. They must have some form of government to decide what is best for the pod, where they should swim, etc... I suppose they just get together and vote on what to do, majority rules and if you are part of the minority you don't argue since your social life is more important than anything else.
I also think that although the pod's where usually independent, they would gladly join another if they happened to meet. This would probably be cause for celebration since the gabbits are so social. What could be better to a gabbit than making a whole bunch of new friends? They probably have a time when all the pods join together to catch up and see how things are going.
When a pod is attacked by a sea rex I think that the gabbit woulds fight bravely to defend their young, even if it ment that the sea rex would easily devour much of the pod. They would fight for each other and since no one would want to live while others die, the pod would probably ultimately all end up together in the stomach of the rex.
I assume that they probably have a mating season when all of them get together and spawn. At these times the seas of oddworld would be filled with the dolphin-like calls of the gabbits.
I don't think the idea of underwater gabbit villages makes any sense. They wouldn't need stores or houses since they are on the move searching. Worryfish (which as far as we know is there only prey) would be the only food "product" to sell and gabbits can hunt on their own. A house would serve no purpose, it would only break down the pods into smaller family units which would be bad for the social whole of gabbit society.

I hope somebody has comments to share. To me this is an interesting topic and I hope that I am not the only one interested in what Munch's race was like before their almost complete extinctification.
