If I understood Sydney correct, i agree. But i probbebly dident so here is my view...
Peaple dont want to die. So, the want tho belive that there is a place after death. If you do belive that, I bet that the thought of death is'nt as scarry or disturbing.
Way back when. Before peaple had the technoligy to understand how the world was working, they started to wonder. But nowbody could fifure it out. How could they? So they make up god. Someone or something that created it all. It was the only thing that maid sence, and I dont blame them. But now a days, we have the tecnolegy and gadjets to proove that it is'nt how it works. Most peaple exepted that, and agreed that god was a silly thought. Those peaple, know that there is no god. But some peaple, still wont exept the fact, and still belive in god.
