If they're a type of bird, then why can they turn to an entire flock of them if they die? ;) Just a thought.
Besides, there's no real saying whether the birds on OW are warmblooded too. OW creatures may have a completely different metabolism not dependant on temperature at all to work (please, no chemists reply to this *laughs*). They may be called birds, but they are on Oddworld. They may not BE birds.
