Okay since you guys are still all getting butthurt at each other I may as well chip in again.
A lot of people here seem to be reacting to this whole idea based on reasons of personal interest. Most of you guys are either flaming each other, fucking around, or whining because some one you don't like is getting votes.

This thread's actually pretty calm (well, compared to the average 4chan thread, at least). Everyone's just sort of throwing their 2 cents in now and then, and most tension is eased by self-restraint. The so-called flame war here is only an illusion.
Heck, the only outright flame-ish behavior in this thread seems to come from people who've fallen for this illusion, and think they need to respond in kind to flame posts that aren't there. There simply is no spoon. Calling users butthurt who've done nothing wrong is self-defeating.
For example, and I don't mean to push buttons (that's Nep's job 'round these parts), you've said this:

Even if someone is very "opinionated", that wouldn't matter if they were fucking mature and would be able to put this drama bullshit behind them enough to get the job done, and avoid being an asshole or abuse the power somehow. Maybe all this drama bullshit is all the more reason we need more mods.

You seem to want to act as the voice of reason, yet you're flinging insults and swear words at users that have behaved with the best self-restraint they could manage. You consider this thread a flame war that must be extinguished, yet if it exists, you have only made it burn hotter, rather than contribute to its return to productiveness.
In addition, you say that this "drama bullshit" is a choice of moderator being taken too seriously, but you yourself jumped to the conclusion that there is some sort of grand conspiracy going on:

As for cliques, it's clear to me now that Vlam and Carpenter are working together against Jaydee for some reason, and I take offense to this kind of stubidness. I don't care what kind of invisible war you guys are having, this is petty and it needs to stop.

Flinging baseless accusations at users who only wish to contribute to a thread, and have their points considered, is hardly constructive (not to mention this means you, in your own words, are going apeshit over third party votes).
I voted for JayDee because he seems like he could help get an influx of new users comfortable (in part by giving the forums a pleasant atmosphere, which is what moderators do). Vlam and Carpenter bring up good points as to how that won't happen, and that we need to focus on restoring community bonds, and I can respect that.
Your posts kind of do the opposite of both: you're acting pretty hostile, which scares away users looking for a friendly community, and you're inciting hostility in the community itself.
If this isn't what you wanted to achieve, I'd recommend putting less effort into trying to sound like the only sane person here, and more effort into taking the role of an arbiter. Do you see that people are at each other's throats? Going berserk on the one you like less won't ease tension, but easing their dispute into mutual understanding will.
