The marketing so far has very much hinted at a darker tone, but it’ll be difficult to say for sure until we see trailers and gameplay footage. ARGs tend to have a slightly creepy vibe to them which might be influencing our perception of the game.
Oddworld has always had plenty of humor though, and Lorne Lanning has talked in the past about using entertainment to get a message across, so I doubt they plan to cut that out of the series.
