Some kind of mine that's attached to them that blows up if they try to leave, or something you might stake into the ground... anyone else have any ideas? He looks like he's looking at something/somebody he's interacting with or is about to interact with

He looks scared. Scared like a Slig has a gun on him. He could also be holding a bomb for the mines? That's pretty scary.
