That's a surprising opinion. I've always considered the MGS franchise games with great controls, and I can't simply remember any difficulty spike early in the games, and to me they started pretty ok-easy. They even have all difficulty settings, with the lowest ones being so easy that's almost unplayable for me.
They’re basically like big, well-oiled machines: they work very consistently and once you learn the mechanics, they will always work – but there’s so much that you have to learn up front to be able to do anything that it can be very perplexing if you’re not used to it.

I'll just say that after you get the credits, it's not the end of the game yet, there are further missions which you, for the sake of argument, should play :P
I know. I’ve not personally seen it, but I’ve read all about the twists in the ending.
