It's hard to imagine how that sound could have gotten more annoying than the original, so I suspect that's your memory playing up.  |
I think it has more to do with the mentioned audio mix being terrible. There's a terrible balance in volume between different sounds. You can be playing at a relatively good volume, but then once you find some Fuzzles the bouncing sound is twice as loud as everything else.
