In the original AO you can just pull the lever quickly enough and even if the sligs kill you the ending still plays.

And I think it's just supposed to be a fun little easter egg, nothing more than two mines

Also I can't for the life of me find Bomas in Paramonia, I've been through three times since I found Carmine and nothing.
