I absolutely agree, Lorne is selling himself and his team short. They really fleshed out the universe and improved on gameplay mechanics.
My only gripe with AE is that there were a lot of areas akin to the Scrabania/Paramonia Temple hub rooms, (where you had to complete each "room" to open the master door) which, to me, made it feel like you weren't actually physically progressing thru the factory like AO did.

Exoddus is very likely my favourite video game experience of all time, though there is always room for improvement. I'd like to think that all of the intermittent story, which was told primarily through auxiliary news segments, might be fleshed out. While I love the game for what it is, Abe essentially disappears from the cutscenes for the second act and doesn't appear again until the scene where the Jr. Executives are trying to sell their stocks.
It would definitely be great to see him more involved with the story.
