They spent so long trying to get the game to work on Unity that it only makes sense (if this is the case I didn't hear him say it).
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if SoulStorm was pretty similar to NnT in terms of gameplay. There's room to improve and finesse. To create puzzles that are a better fit to the sidescrolling model.
What are the problems with Unity, btw? Performance, loading times, amount of graphical detail? Is it too limiting? I actually don't know.
