It's practically spam. If you give someone positive rep they see your comment, which fills the same point.

First of all, I don't see why I'm a "spoiled child" and a "brat" just for asking why a LOL response is not allowed. All I wanted to know is why. Sometimes the rules in some forums are a little ridiculous and I find it funny how some moderators on other forums pick on things that aren't that big of a deal. Crashpunk and Job McYossie both gave me answers, saying that it doesn't add anything to the discussion, and if you give someone a positive rep, they see your comment, and it fills the same point. I actually thought it might be something like that, and that makes total sense. I didn't think just writing "lol" once was considered spam, but I see how it can be considered spam now, and it doesn't add anything to the discussion. I just didn't see a problem until someone told the guy not to do it. It was just a surprise, that's all.
