Everything Everything is quickly shaping up to be one of my new favourites, really liked their latest album
Get To Heaven, especially this track:
Tame Impala's latest album,
Currents, was also pretty great. Lot of synth action going on in that record. I still like
Lonerism the most though.
Travi$ Scott's debut album
Rodeo didn't impress me at all when I first listened to it, but it really grew on me after a few listens. Melodic trap bangers galore.
It's hard to say why I've listened to this
Hey QT track so much lately, but it's just so fun. It's so artificial, plastic and absurd, but I really
really like it. The label(?) behind it, PC Music, has a lot of other artists/projects like this. Check out
Hannah Diamond or
A. G. Cook if you're a weirdo like me and actually enjoy this type of stuff.
Post Malone is definitely going to be huge this year, he dropped a few hits last year (
White Iverson,
Too Young) and collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, 50 Cent and Gucci Mane already. His lyrics definitely aren't the most unique out there, but I really like his sound.
Lil Ugly Mane dropped the much anticipated
Oblivion Access, his final album. Very grimy, gritty and not that easy to listen to as a whole. An appropriate sendoff to the Lil Ugly Mane persona. If you haven't heard of Lil Ugly Mane before I recommend checking out
Mista Thug Isolation, it's his most famous project and one of my all-time favourites.
I've recently been delving into the depths of southern rap, started with UGK (and of course I'm already familiar with Outkast) and through some of their tracks landed on some Pimp C solo projects. Man, this track is such a great banger.
Kanye West released a new track and it's pretty great in my opinion. Reminds me of
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a bit. The snippet at the end sounds really good too!
I haven't previously listened to much of RJD2's work, but his latest single is really good. Funky stuff.
