I usually found that the trick is to start rolling slightly earlier than what feels right. It’s like with the UXB timers, the timing is quicker than it feels it should be, so you gotta compensate for it.

I've tried this, but I always seem to go too early.
I genuinely don't know how anyone speedruns this games, especially given how inconsistent Slig and Slog behaviour is when you're running past them.
