The most shocking thing to me is how hideous the Internet was back in the day.
Back before browsers had Tabs and it took 8 and a half hours to load one page. You just had to get the relevant information across in as few kilobytes as possible so you didn't waste 8 hours of your customers time with a fancy ass picture or banner!
