Not exactly. Insomniac were the creators of the franchise but they partnered with Sony to make the games. When they decided they wanted to move on to other projects Sony took the rights to the series and handed it off elsewhere.
You were right not to bother though, as none of the sequels ever really lived up to the original trilogy. Most of them outright sucked, and the few good ones were just good, not great.

Did spyro have the same partnering arrangement as crash did? Crash was developed by naughty dog, published by sony and owned by universal, hence why sony never owned crash. Wasnt the same for Spyro?
Whereas for Ratchet and jak, it was just Naughty dog and insomniac made the game and sony owned them, no third wheel.
The only PS2 spyro game I really liked was Dawn of the Dragon, the final one before Skylanders. Has anyone seen a speedrun of Enter the Dragonfly? If u havnt, I highly reccomend it. The speedrun lasts about 2 minutes, thats how broken that game is.
