That sounds like a lot of work - I hope JAW take as much time as they need, and I'm glad they're not giving up on porting it to other platforms. The tone of the update had me a little worried while I was reading the start of it. :P
Still, it's really nice that they gave us an update rather than leaving us in the dark. Good luck to them.
