Never had a problem with the difficulty in the 2nd and 3rd game. yes u still died in a few hits, but that was the same in the original. Problem with the 1st game was u go back to the 2nd level and enemies hit u as hard as they do in the final level.
And strafing helps ALOT. I almost never take damage in the second and third games.
The checkpoints were bad in the second and third games, but they had checkpoints. The first game they were literally non existant. I spent over an hour just trying to get past the main mission on the lightning planet. Cuz 15 minutes in u die and then ur all the way back to the beginning. 2 and 3 had much better checkpoints, u would only lose a few minutes, which is bad, but no where near as bad as the first game.
