I disagree about the design, I think the new Cybermen are more terrifying than ever. They're basically unstoppable, now.

They've slowly become less and less human until they're basically robots which is pretty much what you'd expect if you think about the cyber ethos,

Well up until the redesign in series 7 all the Cybermen in the modern series are from a parallel universe, they have a different timeline and they don't share much in common with the original Cybermen of this universe.
