Well, the Glukkons get native Muds so addicted to the stuff so that they'll keep coming back for more, eventually even signing themselves into slavery just to pay for a lifetime supply. It's a much more cost-effective way to beef up the Mudokon workforce than sending out Slig patrols to capture native Muds.
It's a drink that can be enjoyed by anyone, but it is either especially addictive to Muds, or Magog just used it as a tool on the Muds to rope them into working for them.
