Actually, when I think about it, based on what I've seen, NNT is more of a third person view of the story and AO is a first person view of the story.

The story in AO and AE were done in
totally different styles. NnT follows from AE and MO, because that's what Oddworld is. They have made the decision to tell the story in a different way.
