Any genre can work when done well, obviously. Munch was rushed, and therefore isn't a good example of a 3D platformer, but there are very good ones out there (Ratchet & Clank, Spyro...). JAW seem to know what they're doing now and perhaps they could find a way to make Munch work if they rebuilt it and kept the genre the same.
I think I'd rather see new Oddworld titles first (perhaps even before Exoddus now). You've got the whole remake thing going on - Game market is currently flooded with "HD remasters", so people are confused and can't tell the difference between a HD upgrade of an existing title and a complete from-the-ground-up re-imagining. And there was that controversy earlier with Lorne complaining about this.
Many comments on N'n'T's reviews reflect this, saying "I'm not paying $30 for a 15 year old game!" even though that's not the case. It was nice to see people correcting them, though.
