I don't know enough about how it's implemented to express an opinion, but the UK is far from the first place in the world that work-for-the-dole programs have been implemented. It's gone reasonably well here in Australia.

No. If this was doing community service for the dole then my jimmies would be well and truly rustled, but that's morally okay.
Selling our time to corporations so they don't have to hire actual labour is
SLAVERY and I refuse to refer to it as anything else. This is exploitation and a clear violation of human rights. We will literally be working for free to support a system that destroys actual jobs.
Also I'm currently in the process of getting a voluntary placement as an administrator working for a charity for the blind. If I'm still unemployed by the time I exit the Work Programme next April, I'll be forced to quit my (Job and qualification level relevant) voluntary placement to 'volunteer' myself for a scummy company the DWP has a contract with and there's nothing I can do about it. My chances of getting relevant experience will cease to exist.
