I don’t think they ever really expanded on it that much themselves, but I do remember not being able to go anywhere on the internet without seeing Slender Man for a while. The Marble Hornets guys kinda just ignored that and stuck with their way of doing things though, which I always kinda liked.

There's that stuff with erm, is it 'Maskey' though? and that just made it unbelievable for me. Slenderman on his own was a cool concept, didn't need to be added to a whole lot I don't think. All the spin-off stuff by unaffiliated people did help to kill Slenderman for me though.
