FACT: leaving their venom sack embedded in animals makes their sting more effective against that animal, which is clearly able to do a lot of damage to the colony.
FACT: Bees stings to not get suck in insect exoskeletons, and may assist penetration. They survive such assaults, assuming they don't get stung back. Bees and wasps often fight.
FACT: most bees do not have serrated stings, including the queens of species that do. They can sting you with impunity, if they so desire.
FACT: stings are modified ovipositors, so males are stingless.
