No it wasn't amazing, it was a piss-poor episode, but consistency with the monsters is and was never an issue. Daleks are terrifying when you have no guns, and the head of the Cyberman, if you were listening was cleared out.
And what's the difference between them dropping like flies and blowing up a planet? They were a threat, so they must be eliminated by any means necessary. If you have better weapons which can kill them why blow up a planet?
