You're seriously saying that series 7 wasn't gritty? Sure, Moffat had a load of fairy-tale esque bollocks but that's his speciality (maybe thats why all his christmas episodes are horrible), but there was also lots of horror. Specifically, Crimson. That was a great gritty episode.
I do hope that the new series will be less childish, maybe an older Doctor will help that.
