we may as well guess what they're going to do next, seeing as they don't pay any attention to the people who keep the website useful aside from making their lives harder.
I'm guessing they're going to rebrand subscriptions into the google+ circle feature and past subscriptions won't be updated meaning you have to add all your past subscriptions into circles, and the user gets an email update for every person who adds him/her to a circle.
Worst part is the user has to confirm or deny every single person who adds them.
