I like Texas Hold-Em with friends because the fun for me is betting against how well I know them and how well I can detect whether they're bluffing. I'm no good at card-counting or figuring out the probability of various hands, so I'd never play against strangers. We don't generally play for money anyway.
When I was in Vegas I budgetted $100 to waste gambling. About half of that was on roulette tables, because I'd always wanted to have a spin. A fair amount was in the slot machines in an effort to work out why everyone else seemed to be enjoying them so much. I remain unenlightened. I think my favourite was the big upright spinning wheel thing, but I can't really explain why.
