Not having actually played the game, I'm not exactly qualified to make comment. But from what I've seen, I'll give my opinions.
Something that I don't like in Munch's Oddysse is that Abe doesn't climb walls and ladders: he simply walks up them. I also don't like the boinging sound Munch makes with each hop on the ground. I don't like the general "candied" atmosphere that the outside levels have, with the bright green grass and bright blue sky. I also think that Munch's Oddysee became a little too cartoony.
One of the things that made the Abe games so successful was their candid juxtaposition of playful jokes with the grim realities of death, cruelty, blood and gore. With Munch, on the other hand, the only hints of negativity are seen in the plot and occasional suggestions in gameplay (both of which are hard to take seriously in the way they're presented).
Don't get me wrong, I believe that Munch is better than all other games available, it just could be better. I might just remind you that I haven't played the game so I could be completely wrong about what I've said.
