Everyone hates it, including me, and I've tackled Wil in person. On the issue.
Apparently it stands out from the red/grey backgrounds, and is more visibly "desirable" than sending slaves into a burning halo of fire. I'd explain what's wrong with that, but I'd just be repeating myself.
