What are available as pets in Oz? It seems that all the local ones are protected and all the foreign ones are forbidden devils.

Standard pets like cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, birds and fish of various types are okay.
Anything more exotic (turtles, snakes, frogs) must be local and many of them need (easily obtained) licenses. Anything exotic from overseas is verboten.
