Maybe there isn't THE elum anymore... Because it never really made any sense that THE elum would conviniently be at the start of Paramonia, and then again conviniently at the start of Scrabania... Maybe Abe comes across a herd of elum and just hoists himself on one of them.
Problem with this is that it takes away that special bond you, as the player, have with THE one Elum.
Maybe there still is THE elum, and Abe meets up with him in Monsaic Lines, and throws him into the scrabania and paramonia wells
