I do not appreciate the fact her and Morpheus's romance is entirely off-screen, there's no chemistry between them before and irregardless of this, she's still pretty crucial to his, well, you know.

I'm not sure that showing the romance on-screen would be much better. Morpheus tends to be the least interesting character in any of his comics.
