The shocking episodes that STM is talking about are "Closing Time", "The Doctor, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and to a lesser degree "The Rings of Akhaten".

The biggest problem with every episode of Doctor Who in the last two seasons is that the stories have had no time to develop. Moffat writes huge idea, but not one episode in the last season was split in two parts. Not even the finale.
