Finally watched Scott Pilgrim vs the World tonight. I hadn't avoided seeing it before now, but I certainly hadn't gone to any length to see it. I thought the 90s video game vibe seemed a bit tacky, but I ended up really enjoying the film.
I really loved the way the story was told. There was a really strong visual aspect to everything, which I loved. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if I didn't know it was a comic adaptation, but some of the ideas just translated well into film. The characters were all fantastic, and the writing for them was superb. The second half felt a bit rushed, but the ending was fleshed out enough to be satisfying.
I wouldn't say it was a brilliant film, but it was a good way to kill a Sunday afternoon.
I really feel like I'm part of the target audience for something like this, so I don't know if I've been objective enough here.
