All I was saying (and I didn't even mean it) was that it's very easy to set your standard for partners higher than your own standard as a person.

The way I see it, saying "I'm too picky" is just a less egocentric way of saying "The people around me aren't good enough". You can only lay the blame on others for so long. Everyone thinks that if people around them were better they'd have a boy/girlfriend,* but at the end of the day, if you're the one who's alone, then some of it must be your fault.

*Which is a bit weird in itself, since surely a better standard of person (if such a thing even exists) would be more likely to have personal criteria you didn't meet.
