I made this to demonstrate something that I found awesome when playing with planetarium apps like the one I linked to earlier. Orion is one of the most recognisable constellations in the sky, yet the middle star of the "belt", Alnilam, is incredibly, incredibly far away despite being so obviously visible.
Hayden Planetarium allows you to "fly" to other stars, and gives a good idea of Alnilam's distance in relation to other stars. It's quite amazing when you think about it.
Also, gotta love Red Dwarf.
