I also thought they might've added it in. I've tried to do it again by getting a Slig near a Mudokon Scrub again, but so far I havn't been about to get him to do it.

For me, it happened when I was trying to lead mudokons to the levers. Sligs were approaching so I told the muds to wait, then ran off. The sligs began to beat the mudokons, seemingly because they were standing up and not working
