You're both wrong. He calculated the volume of a cubic pixel and worked out how many cubic pixels make the armour by counting them. You can see how thick the armour is and how thick Steve is underneath, it's not difficult to do.
The armour isn't just a colour swap, it alters the geometry of the character.

Are you sure the armor is made of cubic pixels of the same size as the ones from the terrain?
