That's the main reason I posted it. I love watching people hate things.
And while I won't defend those commenters as individuals, if a former indie dev hero inferred that, say, Xbox users were incapable of appreciating certain kinds of video games, people would go mental. He had this kind of backlash coming.

I don't think that he ever inferred that at all. Phil Fish is a douche, sure. But people get carried away with it, and give meaning to his words that aren't really there. What he's saying is that he made the game as a kind of love letter to the old Saturday morning, sitting in front of your tv with a pad of paper trying to figure out codes, NES days of playing games, and that this is how he would prefer the game to be played. I don't think he ever said that people couldn't appreciate the game if not played that way, but that this is how it would best be played. And seeing as it's his creation, I think it's fair that he gets an opinion on how it would best be played.
