Apple do like to boast about how many apps they have in their store. The reality is that 99.9% of them are just crap and irellevant to the individual user.. But I think that's the case with android too (and windows phone, bless..)

You can't pit Android against iOS, really. There are so many different Android phones to choose from, and there's only one iPhone, which, they keep releasing under a new label.
Although, I always find Android to be faster, and a lot more convenient. For example, Apple are very clever, your battery dies on an iPhone, you have to go directly to Apple to get it sorted, and most likely pay an absolute bomb. With Android, all you need is something off Ebay.
Another thing is the back button, or, lack of a back button on an iPhone. This means the on screen back button is in a different place every time, which is annoyingly inconsistent. Most Android devices have the back button as a physical button, so you know where it is every time, and it's consistent.
Also, Android OS offers so much more freedom than iOS, meaning you can easily root it, add non-market apps just by ticking a box in the settings, and do so much more. Even able Flash Player on low-end Android phones that don't appear to support it.
And the Android interface is just so much nicer than iOS's and easier to use.
